Spring Breakin' 2020 Style

Spring Break this year we decided to do a "Staycation" and try to avoid the Coronavirs-19 that has taken over all social media and news stories. I did not want to just sit in the house with four boys and just play games and watch movies when the weather was going to be AMAZING. So we ventured out, handsanitizer in hand, and had a blast.
Day 1 the little ones and I ran errands to be ready for the week. This did include getting things ready to cook in every night.
Day 2 I took all four kiddos to Legacy Hall to grab so great food for lunch, watch Toy Story 4, and of course meet Buzz Lightyear! It was a fun family friendly outing. I let the big two order their own food with their own "food card". Everyone got something sweet to watch the movie. It did get a bit warm so we packed up and decided to walk around before heading home.

Day 3, we took Landon and Donovan to Downtown Dallas. We began our day at the Holocaust Museum. I will have to say this is not little kid friendly. I think Landon was the perfect age I would not recommend younger than 5th grade. So much information on the Jewish religion, how so many people persecuted them for so many years for the death of Jesus, and how Hitler did not only target the Jews but any other religion that he deemed not Christian. There was also a section regarding human rights. It was great to be able to teach the boys that these rights were not always in place and even their great-grandparents suffered from segregation in Texas. Lots of the museum was interactive to keep their attention.

They had some great artwork through out and this really cool sculpture outside. After we left the museum we decided to take some scooters and scooter up to Klyde Warren Park. This was an adventure. No scooters on sidewalks so the road it was with two pre-teens. They did great. This is another recommendation that I would not suggest for younger kiddos.

When we got to the park we thought about hitting the food truck scene but wow, it was super busy. It was a beautiful day and everyone was out. So we hit up Savor, it is pretty kid friendly during the day. They have outdoor seating so we definitely took advantage of that. They enjoyed some yummy mac'n cheese as well as some Calamari. After we took the scooters around Downtown and then headed back. It was a great day with the big two and so much needed Big Kid time.

Day 4 we took it easy and had a playdate at our local Library. They ready three books and sang songs and even put on a puppet show. It was weird to realize there were no toys out for the kids to play with. The Coronavirus is taking over the media and hand washing is at a new level. After some time at the library we headed over to our favorite park, Eureka. Usually this park is very busy but again to our surprise not that busy.

The boy played and played. They went down slides and even did the big kid side since it wasn't very busy. We meet a new friend in our moms group and it was a pretty great day.
The big two played basketball almost all day since the weather was great and it was our last day of really good weather for awhile.

Love seeing the kiddos love the outdoors and playing with each other.
Even with all this hysteria, we are not living in fear. We know God is protecting us and we are doing our jobs by staying healthy and washing our hands. That's all we can do.

With the fear that the world is living in right now I am living for these simple moments.
