Stay Home and Be Safe... the new Normal

March 2020 has definitely been one that will be in the history books. What began as a normal month soon turned into hysteria and panic as COVID-19 hit the United States. Everything changed drastically daily. The kids were on Spring Break when we got the news that school would be closed another week as cases of COVID-19 were hitting Texas. Home school and no baseball. Wow! We needed to wrap our heads around what was happening and just get away and reset, while "social distancing". We took a two day trip to Austin, TX , with my sister, to just get back to nature and find a new calm with what was about to happen. We went bike riding, canoeing, and lots of take out as restaurants were no longer open inside.

We began to realize our best option of making it through this with all the kiddos was to begin to adjust and make the outdoors our new best friend. We also began online/home school while there. We were also informed while there that school would be closed for another three weeks and still no baseball.

This trip was much needed. I was also a super clean freak during this time and all the kiddos adjusted well to washing their hands and hand sanitizing constantly.

This was something that is effecting everyone and not just here but around the world. Our world was changing right before us and we were doing our best to catch up and stay safe.

There is no handbook for this, there is no how-to on homeschooling in a crisis or how to talk to your kids about a pandemic. You just go with the flow, figure it out, and make the best of the situation. Making my kids happy is my goal. We will get through this together and we do understand that we will all come out different and see the world from a different point of view.
